If you are so used to drinking any sport drink like Gatorade to revitalise your body after exercise or body workout at gym, you may want to read this article.
According to Yarixa Ferrao, a certified personal trainer of National Academy of Sport Medicine (NASM) and founder of “Get Fit in 6″, she suggests that coconut water as an alternative drink to your usual sport drink.
Here are 4 reasons why:
1. Coconut water contains potassium, sodium, magnesium, calcium, and phosphorous - electrolytes that keep your system hydrated and balanced.
2. Unlike any other sport drink, it’s low in carbohydrates and contains no artificial sweeteners.
3. It helps boost your immune system and eases stomach pains.
4. It’s a natural cure for a hangover.
Mortin Satin, Chief of the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organisation, has made a few comparison between coconut drink and other sport drinks.
Coconut water contains more potassium (294 mg) than most sport drinks (117 mg) and most energy drink
Coconut drink has less sodium (25 mg) where sport has 41 mg and energy drink at 200 mg
Coconut water has 5mg of natural sugars while sports drink and energy drinks range from 10 to 25 mg of altered sugars
Coconut water is high in chloride at 118mg while sport drinks at mere 40mg.
Coconut water is definitely Nature’s own soft drink in possesssing healthy growth in our body.
