As being a highly experienced local team traveling throughout New England, we

Stress, food additives and preservatives are toxic to your body and lead to acidity. Acidity is very detrimental to all your body functions, including your immune system. If you don’t like water alone, try adding some lemon or drinking coconut water. Coconut water is loaded with electrolytes and minerals, has about 16 total calories, and is fat-free. In fact, one cup of coconut water contains more electrolytes than most sports drinks and more potassium than a banana. No More Perma-Sore!

I've been a figure skater for 24 of my almost 42 years -- I started when I was 9, quit when I was 16 and started again at 25. I currently compete against other adults and am the reigning U.S. adult national bronze medalist in the Championship Intermediate-Novice Ladies division. For most of the adult portion of my skating career, I've suffered from what a call "perma-sore" -- I just don't recover from muscle fatigue and soreness the way I did in my teens, and it was a rare occasion when no body part was in pain.

Up until a few months ago, my drink of choice while on the ice had been plain ol' water. It did the job it was intended to do, which was basically to quench my thirst. Then one day, a friend mentioned on Twitter something about coconut water and exercise. Curious, I asked her what coconut water was, and from that point on I was Googling articles about coconut water and researching all the brands. Each touted more potassium than a banana and more electrolytes/less sugar (none) than a sports drink, and so began my mission to find this magic elixir.

I tried 'em all, and my absolute favorite is O.N.E. (One Natural Experience) with a Splash of Pink Guava. But it's not just because of the awesome taste, it's because I don't suffer from "perma-sore" anymore. In fact, I don't suffer from any "sore" anymore! Most people are appalled with my habit of adopting the "elf diet:" Hostess cupcakes for breakfast, peanut M&Ms for lunch and Pop-tarts for dinner. When I had my over-priced membership to an "athletic club," I devoted more time thinking of reasons NOT to go to the gym than I actually spent AT the gym.

Granted, every single girl has different prerogatives. Mine happen to include expensive Italian shoes, and not necessarily my physical well-being. My poor health sometimes doesn't even make it on my list of priorities let alone, and well, left alone at the bottom of one.

Certainly, single girls like to count calories, but with a penchant for fake cooking, take-out meals, eating over the sink or having chips and guacamole for dinner, we tend to overlook the fact that our only serving of fruit for the week was a measly piece of lychee in our martini.

After suffering through the hangover of the century two months ago, I decided to be more concerned about my entire body and not just my liver, which explains my latest obsession with O.N.E. Coconut Water.

With more than $4 billion in annual sales, sports drinks have become a staple of American lives. Now, a new player on the market may be stealing all of the thunder, celebrities and cash.

The new, en Vogue sports drink is coconut water.

A United Nations study found it has the same five electrolytes found in human blood. Gatorade only has two.

Tanya Roller is a health counselor at Daylight Wellness in Orlando, Florida.

"Commercial energy drinks usually have dyes in them, which can be neurotoxins and they're extremely loaded with refined sugar," she said.

The federal government said Gatorade has less than 5 grams of sugar for every 100 grams.

Coconut water has less than 3 grams for every 100 grams.

I had to tell you that I took my daughter to the Vitamin Shoppe last night and while we were there she wanted something to drink. The only thing I could find that she could have besides water was coconut water (ONE to be exact). She literally chugged the entire thing and asked me to buy her some more to take to school. There were only 2 left and so I bought them and then on the way home she proceeded to ask if she could have another one at home.

Coconut yogurt recipe:
- cut off top of young green coconut
- pour coconut water into a glass
- scoop out the meat with a spoon (a plastic flat bottomed spoon from take-out Asian food is perfect).
- put meat in blender with about 1/4 cup coconut water
- blend until smooth
- put into a glass bowl or jar with a lid (pyrex is good)
- mix in 2 capsules or 1/4 teaspoon probiotics
- put lid on and wait 12 hours or overnight
- store in fridge
-add honey, berries, granola or favourite topping

Road Trip to the San Fran Winter Fancy Food Show

O.N.E. Director of Sales, John Slee, and O.N.E. Marketing Manager, Lucy Rendler-Kaplan, took the O.N.E. van, and made the drive from L.A. to San Francisco today, to set up for the Winter Fancy Food Show.

We started at 5 a.m. The van takes diesel gas, which is really nice, as we made the entire drive, only using 1/2 of a tank of gas.

Back in October, I asked Ben in an email what he thought about coconut water, and where it could fit into your training and nutritional regime. He was polite enough to ask if I wanted to write a guest blog about coconut water and my own experiences with it. So, here is my blog on coconut water, and I’ll start by answering Ben’s usual first question in his interviews:

“So Clif, tell me about yourself and your background.”

My name is Clif Harski, I have a BS in kinesiology, and am an ACE fitness certified personal trainer. I played college basketball, and have been an exercise fanatic since a kid. I’m also a manager at Trader Joe’s here in San Diego (Trader Joe’s is a grocery store with a focus on natural foods). My job at Trader Joe’s and me being a “supplement junkie” has seen me try uncountable numbers of training concoctions and aides.

I actually discovered coconut water on a Saturday morning while my body was reeling from an excessive celebration for a friend’s birthday and I was looking to rehydrate my body. Being a grocery store manager and an avid connoisseur of new and interesting beverages I picked up a cardboard box of cold coconut water, and checked out its nutritional information only to find the following:

After reading that nutritional panel I bought two coconut waters, slugged them down and felt better in minutes. This started my coconut water addiction.

I won’t go into why it’s good to consume some carbohydrates and electrolytes before, during, and after exercise because that has been covered extensively in the podcasts by Ben. However, I will point out that coconut water is superior to conventional sports drinks for the following reasons:

•The sugars are natural. From nature. Not processed and weird. I’m not giving an explanation here for why this is better for you.
•It has 15 times more potassium, and between 1/3 and ½ of the sodium. In general, our (today’s human) has a very negatively skewed potassium and sodium balance in their body, generally sodium being much higher that it should be, and potassium being much lower. Coconut water has more potassium than a banana, and will help to restore the balance in your body. It also has been shown to reduce hypertension. •It contains other good stuff!! Calcium, phosphorous, and magnesium.
A very impressive bit of trivia regarding coconut water: during world war 2 and up to today in certain parts of the world, coconut water can be used as an IV for patients when a proper IV is not available. Try hooking up Gatorade to your arm!

A few last things:

1. Be sure to buy pure young coconut water that has no added sugars. That would really defeat the purpose!

2. You can “dress it up” preworkout with a powder such as Delta-E, or intraworkout with some amino acids.

3. It’s a great smoothie base

I notice a distinct improvement in endurance during my training sessions and basketball games when consuming coconut water, and it’s also amazing as a hangover remedy, and would highly encourage you to try it out.

From cosmetics to rope and car seat covers, the diverse uses of coconut and its husk have made the fruit an indispensable commodity in the tropics.

But it was only this year, when Madonna was rumoured to be knocking back coconut water on tour, that the world suddenly woke up to the fruit’s investment potential.

Marketed as a healthy sports drink, coconut water has found an enthusiastic customer base in the US – and plenty of celebrities willing to endorse it.

Technological advances have also made it possible to transport the water large distances without having to add preservatives.

Pepsi made the first move in August when it bought Amacoco, Brazil’s largest maker of packaged coconut water drinks. Coca-Cola then bought a minority stake in Zico, the Californian coconut water producer, in September, followed three weeks later by Pepsi Bottling Group’s investment in One Natural Experience, a company set up by a Brazilian entrepreneur in the US.

Beverage Marketing, a New York-based research and consulting firm, expects coconut water sales to almost double to $35m this year, while revenue from other drinks such as bottled water continues to fall.

Bumping along the dirt track to his coconut farm near Rio de Janeiro, dodging turkeys and roaming dogs, Fábio Lewin says he has received supply enquiries mainly from Portugal, Germany and the US.

But his company, Coco Legal, is struggling to meet demand given that it employs only 14 people.

“Maybe our website is the problem; it makes us look bigger than we are,” he says, laughing.

Brazil’s coconut water producers have been used to living in the shadow of Amacoco, which dominates the sector, but they have now become potential targets of multinational drinks companies.

Fábio was in his early 20s in 2002 when he founded Coco Legal. ‘When I told my dad I was dropping out [of university], he almost had a heart attack,’ says Fábio. But his father soon quit his engineer job with the government and joined the company. Production has almost doubled every year since and is expected to exceed 20m litres a month by the end of 2009.

One’s chief executive, Rodrigo Veloso, says he is convinced coconut water will become a multi-billion dollar global industry in the next 10 years and some analysts think it could match sales of niche drinks such as cranberry juice, which Ocean Spray estimates at about $2.3bn.

“It hits a couple of sweet spots in terms of US consumer trends,” explains John Sicher, editor of Beverage Digest in the US. “It’s natural, relatively low in calories and provides hydration.”

Others are more sceptical and dismiss international interest in coconut water as a celebrity-inspired fad. Harry Balzer, vice-president of the NPD research group, says: “We love trying new things. But I’ve been down this path before. Lots of ‘healthy’ things have come on the market only to disappear again.”

Dr Lilian Cheung, from the Harvard School of Public Health, also questions the medical benefits.

The claims that coconut water could lower cancer risks and boost the immune system are “quantum leaps from solid scientific evidence”, she says, as there has been no research.

Back in Brazil, where One says sales of coconut water have now exceeded those of orange juice, Fábio is still confident he will have to hire more people from the nearby village, even if Madonna does find something else to keep up her energy levels on the dance floor.

Coconuts May Be Nature’s Gatorade Dietician: ‘With the Coconut Water, We Actually Have a Mix of Electrolytes’

The word coconut probably brings to mind images of tropical beaches and palm trees. But for hundreds of years the coconut has been a dietary staple for cultures all over the globe.

The coconut has been much maligned in the past for its fat content, but as new information has come out regarding the health benefits of coconuts, products from this functional food have started invading shelves across America.

The coconut is a member of the palm tree family. It’s not a fruit, though it can be found in the produce section — and, despite its name, a coconut is not a tree nut.

Because of that, coconut products are safe for those with tree nut allergies.

The coconut also provides different products at different stages of its gestation.

Young baby coconuts look like green water balloons and are filled with water. Coconut water, unlike coconut milk, contains no fat and more potassium than a banana.

The health benefits of coconut water have been attracting the most attention.

“With the coconut water, we actually have a mix of electrolytes,” says Ashley Koff, a registered dietician. “I like to call coconut water ‘nature’s Gatorade.’”

The electrolytes, with help from the potassium, help the body absorb water better.

“It actually goes straight into our blood stream,” Koff says, “so it’s extremely hydrating.”

Mature coconuts are the kind most consumers are familiar with. They have a hard, hairy shell. They contain milk and oil — and all the fat and protein that have turned people off for years.

“For a long time, when we were hearing about saturated fat, coconut oil was off limits,” says Koff. “But interestingly, the type of fat in here is medium chain fatty acids. And that is a type of fatty acid that goes right through our digestive system, so it’s actually beneficial for us there.”

Because coconut oil has such a higher burn point, higher than olive oil, it is great for cooking.

Though coconuts can be a healthier option, Koff warns, “We do have to be conscious of things like sugar and fat content.”

Coconut water, though it does have sugar, has significantly less sugar than most fruit juices. An 11 oz. container of coconut water contains 15 grams of sugar, but Koff says that’s about as much as in 4 oz. of apple juice.

A registered dietician says coconut water can be thought of as nature’s Gatorade because of “a mix of electrolytes.” Coconuts also have high sugar and fat content, which has scared off some consumers.

I was never a coconut person. I have vague memories of being in a swimming pool in the Bahamas and some guy selling coconuts. I bought one from him, because I think that was his source of income and I felt bad. I drank down the silky smooth coconut water inside and thought to myself that it was quite refreshing on a hot summer day. It certainly never occurred to me to carry around a few coconuts on my morning runs.

Years passed and the usual sports drinks hit the market. Gatorade being one of the most popular. So, I hopped on the sport drink bandwagon and hydrated post run with mostly the lemon/lime gatorade. I thought that since they chug it at all the major races including marathons, it must be alright. Don’t get me wrong. It is alright if not a bit sweet but how else can you get your electrolytes replaced after a run? What the heck are electrolytes anyway?

Electrolyte is a “medical/scientific” term for salts, specifically ions.

Electrolytes are important because they are what your cells (especially nerve, heart, muscle) use to maintain voltages across their cell membranes and to carry electrical impulses (nerve impulses, muscle contractions) across themselves and to other cells. Your kidneys work to keep the electrolyte concentrations in your blood constant despite changes in your body. For example, when you exercise heavily, you lose electrolytes in your sweat, particularly sodium and potassium. These electrolytes must be replaced to keep the electrolyte concentrations of your body fluids constant. So, many sports drinks have sodium chloride or potassium chloride added to them. They also have sugar and flavorings to provide your body with extra energy and to make the drink taste better.

Have you heard about the acai berry? Do you want to know more about the health benefits of acai berries and berry juice?
Acai berries are highly touted by marketers who say it’s one of the elite superfoods with anti-aging and weight loss properties. But do scientific studies support these claims of acai benefits?

What is the acai berry?
The acai berry is an inch-long reddish, purple fruit. It comes from the acai palm tree (Euterpe oleracea), which is native to Central and South America. It is a relative of the blueberry, cranberry, and other dark purple fruits.

Research on the acai berry has focused on its possible antioxidant activity. Theoretically, that activity may help prevent diseases caused by oxidative stress such as heart disease and cancer.

Is the acai berry healthy?
Acai contains several substances called anthocyanins and flavonoids.

The word anthocyanin comes from two Greek words meaning “plant” and “blue.” Anthocyanins are responsible for the red, purple, and blue hues in many fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Foods that are richest in anthocyanins -- such as blueberries, red grapes, red wine, and acai -- are very strongly colored, ranging from deep purple to black.

Anthocyanins and flavonoids are powerful antioxidants that help defend the body against life's stressors. They also play a role in the body's cell protection system. Free radicals are harmful byproducts produced by the body. Eating a diet rich in antioxidants may interfere with aging and the disease process by neutralizing free radicals.

By lessening the destructive power of free radicals, antioxidants may help reduce the risk of some diseases, such as heart disease and cancer.

Are there known health benefits of acai berries?
Some studies show that acai fruit pulp has a very high antioxidant capacity with even more antioxidant content than cranberry, raspberry, blackberry, strawberry, or blueberry. Studies are ongoing.

Can acai berries boost weight loss?
Scientists are learning more about the functional power of superfoods, such as the acai berry. Although acai is touted in some weight loss products, few studies have tested the benefit of acai in promoting weight loss.

For now, plenty of research supports eating a diet rich in antioxidants. There’s no doubt that berries and other fruits are a key part of any healthy diet promoting weight loss. The jury’s still out on whether there is something special about acai’s ability to shed excess pounds.

Do acai berries and acai juice have any side effects?
If you have pollen allergies or have a known hypersensitivity to acai or similar berries, you may want to avoid this fruit. When eaten in moderate amounts, though, acai is likely safe.

MY 21 DAY CLEANSING JOURNEY ON O.N.E. COCONUT WATER

As I finish this cleanse on the first day of summer, I contemplate what has really propelled me to be able to sustain myself for 3 weeks on only coconut water (from O.N.E.) and stevia water. I realized that whenever I am coming up to my next quarterly cleanse, I write down in my Day Planner when I plan to begin. By doing that, I create a mindset that knows it will happen and when. It doesn't hurt that I'm self-motivated and have tremendous will power. For those who don't, the best thing to do is start slowly and build up to where it becomes easy for you. I started with only a 1 day a week fast 5 years ago and I still do that year round. Sometimes, I am amazed at my energy level and find that I am doing things, you wouldn't expect me to be able to, like moving my stove and fridge so I can clean behind them (and they sure needed it!).

An important point I would like to make, is that coconut water does have natural sugar and as such, it is a good idea to rinse your mouth out with water so as not to allow the sugars to build up in your teeth and gums. You can also have some stevia water (since it isn't sugar and it happens to be anti-bacterial). The coconut water is highly beneficial to keeping your mineral intake up while you are cleansing/fasting, but you do not want to incur any problems with your gums or teeth.

I find that when I come closer to the end of my cleanse and even on the last day, I am not ready to start eating food again. When I do eat, my body has to readjust itself and the shift needs to be slow and easy.
I will post a follow up blog, in a week to share with you my journey back to eating/processing/digesting food.

Some other things I'd like to share with you about fasting. It does not cure disease, rather it allows the body to become 100% efficient at healing itself. Since the body is not overburdened by food, the internal organs have a chance to rest and rehabilitate. The enhancement of the vital internal power, allows the body to flush out toxic poisons and waste that have been stored in the body for years. Fasting has been done since the dawn of time, if you peruse the Bible or any other holy books, prophets have fasted for spiritual enlightenment and a closer connection with the Divine.

I'd like to reiterate and also add some other benefits to fasting/cleansing. You will find that it hones and sharpens your mental faculties. It improves the organs involved in mastication, digestion, assimilation and elimination of food. The liver, which is typically the most abused organ, has a chance to rehabilitate, gain vitality and function more efficiently after you finish your fast. All of the senses become more keen and raised to a higher level both during and after the fast. Your circulation will improve and endurance stamina and strength are increased. The mind becomes more alert and receptive to living a sensible healthy lifestyle and it can be so powerful that it can take control over your body (mind over matter). In doing so, it becomes the master (if you keep with a program that achieves the ultimate health) and you can maintain this for the rest of your life.

Fasting instills personal confidence.
Fasting gives a person a positive mental attitude.
Fasting promotes tranquility of mind and a “glow” of well-being that nothing else can offer.
Fasting renovates, revives and purifies every one of the trillions of cells that make up the body (and every 7 years all your cells are completely re-newed, so imagine what you can achieve, especially in the realm of anti-aging).

I have now completed the second week of my cleanse. Where did the time go and yet, I feel so comfortable in this mode that food doesn't really matter to me anymore. I feel that I can live on coconut water and stevia water. This is what can happen when you are on a long term fast or cleanse. There are those that may not have the will-power and strength I do to overcome the need to consume food on an every day basis. Don't get me wrong, it isn't that I don't like food, but at this point I feel like I enjoy non-eating more than eating. The thoughts of food are still in my head, as I have even had dreams about food. By the way, I went to Whole Foods Market the other day to purchase 2 large seeded watermelons that I will consume for the initial few days after I complete this cleanse. Honestly, I look forward to that day, which is the 22nd of April.

Now, I would like to discuss with you more about some of the things that I have experienced this week, as my body is continuing in its detoxification mode. Without a doubt, the consumption of coconut water and stevia water, has helped me tremendously to be able to keep going on a day to day basis. I, for one, tend to take it easy when it comes to exercising while doing my cleanse. I do walk every day, but not at the pace I usually do when I am eating (although, if I needed to run across the street to make the light, I could do so without feeling tired or winded). I tend to give my body a complete rest and don't feel troubled by the fact that I am doing this. When the time comes, I will return to my regular, more intense workout regime.

I mentioned in the last post, that people experience various symptoms as the body is purging what it doesn't need. You have to remember the phrase, “garbage in, garbage out.” If you put something in your body, mind, etc. then it has to find its way out, eventually and it isn't always a pretty site (so to speak). This isn't my way to discourage you from ever trying what I have been doing for many years (again, I would say to start doing a 1 day fast for a while and increase in increments that feel comfortable to you), but it is a reality check and makes you think a bit more about the choices you make of what you eat in your daily life. If I don't want to go through all that “suffering,” later on, I will choose wisely when I do eat. I still believe that the body needs to detox/cleanse from the harmful things around us (even if we eat the best foods on the planet and live in the ideal climate, etc) that may not even be physical at all.

Now, getting back to those symptoms, the ones I have experienced this week (and you may, as well) were excessive ear wax, unpleasant underarm odor, achy/sore joints, feeling sluggish/lethargic/low energy/tired, little/no elimination (not to worry, as the body knows what it needs to due and as it continues to heal other areas, this function will return – and I do not feel like I am bloated or constipated in any way), low body heat/feel cold and need more sleep. I don't look at any of these as negatives and instead I stick with the program and accept them without attaching any feelings and then it makes it easier to continue. All I know, is that these will go away soon, as my body/mind continue to do their necessary “housecleaning” and then will be eliminated forever. That is a wonderful thing!

On the flip side, I see quite a few positive things that have occurred for me during these 2 weeks. I find that my mind is sharper and my thoughts are clearer, as I am not needing to put energy into digesting and assimilating food. I also have the time for more internal contemplation and thereby have be able to come up with some wonderful new ideas for projects I will be working on in the near future. I have saved time by not needed to go shopping, bring home the food and then prepare it. Given our economic times (which I don't let get to me in any way, shape or form) I have saved quite a bit of money, too. One of the biggest “pluses” for me, is giving my body the time it needs to heal. When you are constantly processing and using energy to digest food, the body doesn't have as much time to truly get well. I like the fact that I get to sleep more and even take naps or rest if and when I need to. Another wonderful health bonus is that there is no food to process and you are restricting calories, thereby increasing your longevity. This is true, because you are not “using up” energy to process food or doing intense exercise that also requires energy. What this does, is make your body more efficient and your heart rate slows and your blood pressure goes down, as well. I also love the fact that I have time to “purge” my stuff, both inside my body and also the things in my home that I don't need. I always feel lighter knowing that I can get rid of items I have been holding onto that don't serve any purpose for me anymore. A few other physical benefits are loss of toxic weight, clearer skin and a more youthful appearance.

All in all, I would have to say, that I am very satisfied with my results so far in the 2 weeks I have been cleansing. Thank you to O.N.E. Coconut Water for their great product that has sustained me thus far and for allowing me to share with you my experiences.

The final installment of the journey will be next week and I would also like to follow-up/share with my transition back into eating with watermelon and other foods.

I began my 21 cleanse 7 days ago and this time I am doing it on coconut water and filtered water, too. I am using O.N.E. coconut
water, exclusively. I probably need to back track, so you know my history. I have been doing fasts/cleanses since 2004 and have experimented with many different ones, from apple cider vinegar and distilled water, to the master cleanser, to the modified master cleanser that I have created and also my own cleanse with filtered water for the first week, water with stevia added on the 2nd week and finally the 3rd week, I would add coconut water. I have done from 10 – 28 days, but i don't recommend anyone do this so quickly. One day a week on a water fast or coconut water, is good to give you digestive system a break, so your body can truly heal.

I learned more about doing a coconut water cleanse from a book that was given to me by Rodrigo, the owner of O.N.E. It is a great read and I highly recommend it to any and all who want to know more about the amazing benefits of coconut water. It is called, “Coconut Water for health and healing,” by Dr. Bruce Fife. The information on a coconut water detox is in chapter 8, starting on page 155, with the actual information for how to do the fast, starting on the bottom of page 164.

Now, I would like to share with you my experiences for the 1st week of my cleanse and subsequently, I will fill you in at the end of the 2nd and 3rd weeks. For most people, when then start a long term fast/cleanse, the first few days are the hardest to get over the hunger pangs and some of the detox effects, such as headache, nausea, etc. I did not have that this time, at all. Actually, the first day, I did a dry fast with nothing at all (again, don't try this on your own, if you have never done any fasting before) and then on the second day, I starting to drink coconut water and filtered water with stevia (which as a naturally sweet leaf that doesn't affect your blood sugar levels, but adds vitamins and minerals to the water). I have had about 5 and 1/2 cups of coconut water a day and also, as much water as I have needed, which I would say is about an additional 6-7 cups. For the most part I have felt fine, as I am getting minerals from the coconut water and the stevia (the best source for this is organic green powder available from mtroseherbs.com or whole leaf concentrate liquid from wisdomherbs.com).

There have been occasions during the last 7 days where I felt a bit sluggish and low in energy (that is because my body is cleansing), so I have taken the time to rest and/or had some more coconut and/or stevia water to drink. The most important thing when you are on a cleanse, is to listen to your body. Since I have had many years of experience with cleansing and fasting, I know what to do and I can also be available to others who are interested in pursuing this, as a means to help their body to heal itself. The truth is, my recovery time is shortened because I place no digestive burden on my body, thus allowing my body to repair itself sooner. Furthermore, I also train with a coach who has taken me on as a private client with the goal of being among the elite runners in North America. His name is Brian Clarke and he trained under legendary coach Bill Bowerman (founder of Nike) and ran with Prefontaine during his Oregon years. He and I have extremely high expectations and aspirations for my potential.

I took the plunge into great health a few months back and haven't looked back since. Along the way, I learned about how coconut water saved our GI's lives back in WWII and was amazed. You may think it sounds silly to say that using coconut water can benefit your hair! Isn't it
something you drink? Oh, yes, you do drink it and it has great results internally, but it also
can help externally. How do I know this? I have personally seen the results. I came to find
out about using coconut water on my hair, as I was going through a period of time when my hair was falling out more then I'd like to see, especially in the shower, it felt like sand paper
and the growth was rather slow. Another thing that bothered me, was that the day after I washed my hair, it would be full of knots and I would run my hands through my hair and too many hairs would come out. If you have similar experiences, then please read on. Even
if you have not, everyone can benefit from what I did.

I have to give credit to a wonderful lady, Tonya Zavasta, who is a raw food teacher and author.
I confided in her about the issue with my hair and she was the one who suggested I use coconut water in my hair. The more I thought about it, the more it made sense! Why would such a thing have value? Coconut water is full of minerals and that creates alkalinity and the hair needs minerals, like all of our body! I knew that this would work, even before I tried it.
Tonya informed me to pour the water on my hair and into my scalp and let it soak in for
an hour and then wash my hair. I did as she told me and had fantastic results, like I never
could have imagined!

Now before I go any further, I have to say that I pledge my allegiance to O.N.E. water, as
opposed to other companies on the market. I have tried the other companies, but I have
to say for FACT, that they don't taste as good. I am picky when in comes to the food
I eat and the products I use, as I am a raw food chef and an absolute purist.

Here is what I did and you are welcome to use this remedy. One disclaimer is, don't get discouraged if it takes more time to see results. I don't know your situation, so I can't
say for sure that you will have the same experience as I have. I do know, that I told my neighbor to use it in his hair and he has has similar results. I do not wash my hair every day
because I don't feel it is good to strip all the natural oils from your body and hair. Depending on how much hair you have, you can use 1 or 1/2 of the 11oz container of coconut water and pour it on your hair and then rub it in to your scalp. Take a towel and cover your hair so the hair stays wet and allow the water to soak in. Set a timer for 1 hour and then take the time to relax, read a book and listen to some soothing music. Then wash you hair in the shower as you normally do. I did this 3 times a week for a month and was thrilled with the results. My hair was softer (no more sand paper feel), there was less falling out and it was growing more!
On occasion, I actually leave the water in my hair without washing it out, but I do keep it covered for an hour so it can soak it.

Now, I use the coconut water in my hair for maintenance and/or if I feel that my hair is not growing the way I'd like it to. Give it a try! It can't hurt you in any way! It is all natural!
It is, after all the One Natural Experience!

If you've watched television lately, you may have seen one of the many ads promoting various brands of açaí berry juice. While this “perfect potion” is new to the United States, it has been familiar in other parts of the world for hundreds of years.

Açaí (a-sigh-ee) palm trees are members of the genus Euterpe and grow mostly in Central and South American rain forests. The fruit is a dietary staple in the Amazon region, where various species are used in herbal remedies for diarrhea, jaundice, fever, skin ulcers, and tonics to enrich the blood. Euterpe oleracea is the variety that's causing all the buzz.1

Background
A classic palm, the açaí tree grows as tall as 80 feet. Its multiple long, thin trunks have branches near the top that support long, ribbonlike leaves. Dangling from the branches are clusters of three to eight deep-purple berries—so dark that they look almost black. Each berry is about the size of a blueberry and is composed of a small amount of pulp surrounding a large seed.1

Scientific evidence

Chemical analysis finds açaí juice to be an excellent source of essential fatty acids, fiber, and antioxidants. The National Institute on Aging has developed oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) values to measure the antioxidant capacity of various foods.4 With a rating of 161,400 units/100 g, açaí has the highest ORAC value of any food tested to date and is 10-30 times more powerful than red wine by volume.5

This rich antioxidant activity has spurred intense research into açaí's potential for preventing numerous diseases. A University of Florida study showed that açaí extract triggered a self-destruct response in up to 86% of leukemia cells in vitro.6 In a rat study at the University of Rio de Janeiro, açaí extract induced long-lasting endothelium-dependent vasodilatation, which is strongly linked to improved cardiovascular function.7

Meanwhile, in a randomized, placebo-controlled trial, 12 healthy volunteers ingested a standardized açaí extract. When serum antioxidant levels were sampled one and two hours later, the concentrations had definitely increased at each interval.8

Other touted and likely physiologic results from this berry are increased energy, improved mental clarity, improved GI function, better glycemic control for diabetic patients, improved cholesterol balance, and a slowing of cellular aging. All these benefits have yet to be proven, but other high-antioxidant products are credited with these effects.

Açaí Is Nature's Top Superfood Based On Antioxidants

The Amazon which is called the earth's lungs shelters many species of living things. Its large green mushroom-like canopy produces air that the rest of the world breathes. A tiny berry fruit known as Açaí that comes from palm trees in the Amazon river banks distinguishes itself from several wild fruits. Acai berry has become a fast-growing herbal therapy in the world. It's acai's rich concentration of anti-oxidants, among all the nutrients and vitamins it contains, that makes it a wonder medicine and super food too. Dr. Nicholas Perricone, being a world specialist on anti-aging matter, touted acai as "super food." This added to its rising popularity outside the US and South America.

This anti-oxidant concentration is what makes Acai juice strike out all toxins from your body. Through being an aid in metabolism and digestion, acai purifies your system. Anti-oxidants are known to be free radicals or radical cells' nemesis. You get these free radicals from the air, from stress, and they even get to you from food. WrinkIed skin, back pains, black spots, and other signs of aging can be brought on by these radical cells. Cancer can be a result of too many radical cells in the body. Acai berry contains a huge amount of anthocyanin which is good but other than that it contains flavonoid-like compounds that help to fight against radical cells. That's why acai floored a lot of fruits when tested for anti-oxidants and potency. Compared to mulberry, noni, guava, pineapple, cupuaco, and even mangosteen, its scores were better.

The anti-oxidants in Açaí travel fast in our bloodstreams; thus, it's able to get through radical cells' plasma and membrane within 120 minutes after drinking it. Using it is not the same as waiting for 14 months to pass when you want to strike out dark skin blemishes by using night cream or when you use Botox to tighten your wrinkled face.

However, being a super food doesn't only mean having mighty anti-oxidants. Acai earned the prefix "super" since it contains a lot of nutrients and vitamins that only tons of food sources can provide. Well, you see, if you needed to keep your blood cholesterol down, you go for fish since it has the healthy fats Omega 3, 6, and 9. As years gone by and you're more feeble to fight off diseases, you boost your immune system as you increase your vitamin C content by eating a lot of oranges and other citrus fruits. With acai berry, it only requires a healthy acai food supplement or an acai health juice and it's the same as you gained all of them.

What parties are you excited to attend this holiday season?

My friend Jorge Elias – the fabulous architect – is throwing a party in Brazil before Christmas, where there will be lots of amazing singers performing. Christmas evening will be at a friend's house at the Amanpuri Hotel in Phuket, Thailand, and then on New Year's Eve I will be at a party in Shanghai.

What will you wear?

On Christmas evening I'll be wearing a bronze sequin cape dress, my fail-safe party dress by Issa, with a Corto Moltedo clutch and a pair of Charlotte Olympia leopard-print heels. I'm not sure about New Year's Eve yet, but definitely something glamorous.

After all that travelling and all those parties, how will you cure your hangover?

Lots of water and coconut water, if I can get hold of it. It is really rehydrating.

You are spending the holidays in Miami. Does that mean Christmas on the beach?

Yes, I'm definitely a beach bum at heart, so I'll be spend Christmas Day wearing one of my kaftans and either a white string bikini or a Sixties crochet style from my collection, and probably a pair of Havaiana sandals – I have them in every colour.

And in the evening?

On Christmas Eve I'll be at my mother's house and she likes us to dress up, so I'll wear a cocktail dress from my dress collection – probably a sleeveless lace style, which is both conservative but also cool enough for the weather, and a pair of slingback Jimmy Choos.

What about New Year's Eve?

I'll be at a party at the Shore Club on South Beach wearing a beachy, short and probably sequinned dress – something to fit in with that tacky Miami look!

What is your pre-party routine?

When I'm in London I like to put on the music and start with a bath to get the chill out of my bones. I love Ren Body oil and products that remind me of the beach, such as Biotherm Sunfitness Gel and Bobbi Brown's beach range.

What is the formula for a great party?

A good mix of people, a calm host or hostess, good lighting (everyone looks better in candlelight), music loud enough to get everyone in the mood but not too loud that you can't hear anything and, most importantly, a never-ending supply of cocktails.

What is the best soirée you have attended recently?

My late grandfather's film was screened at the New York Film Festival this summer. It was hosted by Martin Scorsese and the gala dinner was held in the ballroom of a Park Avenue hotel, with champagne fountains, a jazz band and celebrities everywhere. It was so glamorous and well organised.

What did you wear?

I went for an old Hollywood glamour look, so I wore a vintage Thirties floor-length lamé gown with a pair of Art Deco Swarovski crystal earrings and a matching cuff from my vintage collection. And I took a vintage-looking Anya Hindmarch gold-and-black striped box clutch and Balenciaga shoes, which were comfortable enough to dance all night in.

What is your favourite vintage discovery?

A pair of boots that I found at the Hammersmith vintage fair while I was sourcing for Nadia's Closet (nadiascloset.co.uk). They are brown, knee-high, with a fur trim and have a kind of Seventies feel to them. I'm going to wear them on Christmas Day with a white crochet dress I found in Sweden. They are really comfortable and my vintage alternative to Ugg boots.
